Time for discoveries
in Wernigerode & Schierke
Want to do a bit of sightseeing during your leisurely stroll through the town? No problem in Wernigerode. Numerous museums are practically on the way and can be visited ‘on the side’ without much effort or travelling time.
It's hard to believe, but up to ten people lived in this doll's house: the smallest house has a door height of just 1.70 metres. So when most people enter, it's a case of ‘keep your head down!’. But as small as this almost cute little house may be, there is room for history inside and you are guaranteed to learn about it during a visit.
Not far away is the Leaning House, which is almost twice as leaning as the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa with an inclination of 7 degrees. What exactly is behind it is explained in the museum housed inside.
From there, it is only a stone's throw to the Harz Museum. Here you can embark on a journey through the history of the Harz Mountains with its unique flora and fauna. The museum also focuses on the great past of the small town of Wernigerode. In addition to exhibits on half-timbered buildings and crafts, there are also exhibits on mining and minerals. Art lovers will also find changing special exhibitions by Harz artists.
