To the tariff overview
Yes, if you are an overnight guest in Wernigerode or one of its districts, you will receive a guest card with your visitor's tax payment.
This guest card entitles you to use almost all public buses in the eastern and western Harz Mountains free of charge.
For example, you can travel free of charge from Wernigerode to Schierke, Quedlinburg, Thale, Blankenburg and Halberstadt.
The castle is open daily from May to October and during the vacations in Saxony-Anhalt & Lower Saxony from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm (last admission is at 5.30 pm).
The other opening hours can be found on the castle's website.
It takes about 20 minutes to walk from the market square to the castle. If you don't want to or can't do this, you can use either the Bimmelbahn or the Schlossbahn with trips from the city center to the stop at the castle.
A ride in a horse-drawn carriage is possible from the flower clock (behind the town hall).
It is not possible to drive up to the castle in your own car.
